If there’s one thing we’ve learned from consuming popular media, it’s that sooner or later the machines will get up and kick our ass. For those who still haven’t gotten this message, here’s another opportunity: Synced (opens in new tab)an upcoming third-person roguelite looter shooter entering open beta testing in December.
Synced is set in humanity’s near future after an event called the Collapse, where the nanomachines we rely on for the day-to-day running of our civilization decided they might do better as a solo act. Hence, they started reproducing themselves by consuming humans – not really sure how that would work, but this is a video game, not a science class – eventually morphing into deadly creatures known as Nanos. Now it’s up to you and your friends to face them as runners: fortune seekers running through the dangerous region known as the Meridian in search of a substance called “nanoenergy”.
Admittedly, it’s not the most original (or coherent) excuse for blasting killer robots I’ve come across, but it promises a unique gameplay trick: players can “sync” with nanos, turning them from enemy to ally ( and also provides the title for the game). Developer Next Studios said the combination of different nano classes – Crusher, Seer, Guardian and Suppressor – and individual player loadouts and abilities “allow for a wide variety of combinations and tactical approaches”.
Lots of new games are promising, but the good news from Synced is that an open beta will begin on December 10th, so you can jump in and see what’s at stake. It won’t be complete, of course, but it will contain both PvP and PvE content and will be free for everyone. During the beta, new content will be released and players who participate in the beta will receive a game-wide reward, but since Synced is still under development, progress will not be carried over: this, as the saying goes, is a one-time thing. way journey.
This is what you need to play – I would assume these are not final system requirements, just a baseline for the beta.
