It’s easy to find the Apple TV app in different places, but now you can find it in a different place: your Comcast device. In its recent conference call, Comcast announced that the app will be available on its platforms sometime in the next few months.
Anyone with Xfinity X1 set tops, a flex streaming hub or XClass TVs (for European and UK viewers) and Sky Glass sets can access the Apple TV + app (Android / iOS) this way. This increased availability gives viewers not only access to the Apple TV + app, but also access to in-app channels (with options like Showtime or AMC +) as well as the ability to rent or buy videos.
But the good news doesn’t stop there! Comcast also provides its Xfinity Stream app (Android / iOS) for Apple TV hardware. This added functionality makes it easy for you to use your Apple TV both as a set-top stand and as a way to watch content on another TV when you are not at home.
While the Apple TV + app is pretty widespread – especially on streaming sticks, smart TVs, and game consoles – it’s still a big step to roll it out to cable boxes. These options are not available to everyone, so this expansion offers additional programming for those who typically don’t go beyond what’s included in their cable TV package.
