All of the handsets from our previous list of phones under Rs 15,000 could be included in this list as well. Most of them are still going strong, but a few new contenders have arrived and managed to oust some of the old guard. Aside from phones with 50MP cameras, we now have some 5G-enabled phones in this budget as well.
As we usually do, we’ve opted for phones with 6GB of RAM, and you also have some options with AMOLED screens or high refresh rate displays, or even both. It’s time to take a look at who made the cut this month.
Best phones to buy in India under Rs 15,000
Oppo K10
The Oppo K10 comfortably retains its place in our list thanks to its rounded feature set for this segment, starting with an IP5X dustproof design. It features a 6.59-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Oppo has opted for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chip, which is a very good choice in this budget. There is also 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card. This phone runs Android 11 with ColorOS 11.
The photo department is led by a 50MP main camera that does most of the heavy lifting. This is joined by a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. The 16-megapixel front camera is pretty good at handling selfies and video calls. The Oppo K10 packs a 5000mAh battery that keeps it going for more than a day and a half with moderate use. The company also bundles a 33W SuperVOOC charger to juice it up swiftly.

Oppo A74 5G
And there is another Oppo phone in this list. I don’t recall seeing two of the company’s phones in the same list under 15,000 before. This option is specifically designed for those who want a 5G-enabled phone. The Oppo A74 5G is one of the cheapest 5G phones out there. The spec sheet isn’t flashy, but just like the K10, it has most of the important bases covered. Again, Android 11 runs with ColorOS 11.
You get a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It also comes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, but here you get a Snapdragon 480 SoC instead of 680. The rear camera department features quad cameras, with a combination of a 48-megapixel primary shooter plus an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera (missing from the K10), a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Oppo A74 5G has a 5000mAh battery that lasts just as long but supports 18W fast charging.

The Motorola G31 retains its place in our list thanks to its impressive features and interface, and it’s now available at 14K. It has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen but with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. This phone has a 50MP primary camera on the back, along with an 8MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 megapixel macro camera. A 13-megapixel selfie camera is housed in a tiny hole at the top of the screen. The phone has a water-resistant design that is ideal for this season. However, it has no IP protection class.
The Moto G31 is powered by a Mediatek Helio G85 chip, which is sufficient for daily use. It is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal (expandable) storage. Battery backup is pretty good, with a 5000mAh battery powering the phone for over a day and a half with moderate use. And last but not least, like most Motorola phones, the G31 has a clean and near-stock Android user interface. It runs on Android 11 and you can expect an update to Android 12 later this year.
