Smartphones under Rs 40,000 have so far been a good choice for those looking for a good compromise between premium performance and design, but usually at the expense of premium camera features. However, as you can see from this list, things are about to change!
First up, we have the vivo V23 Pro 5G.
vivo V23 Pro 5G
It doesn’t often happen that we stumble upon a phone as interesting as this one. Not only is it a beautifully crafted phone with the thinnest bezels and bezels we’ve ever seen, but it also includes a dual selfie camera combo that beats the proverbial socks of most rear cameras in this price range, and a unique and funny color. Switch back which is a lot of fun to play around with. Oh, and the rear camera array isn’t a problem either.
vivo claims this is India’s slimmest smartphone with a 3D curve display, and at just 7.36mm thick, we see no reason to doubt it. The glass seamlessly fuses with the aircraft grade aluminum frame, resulting in a contoured handle that is also very comfortable.
The display itself is a 6.56-inch FHD + curved AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz and since it’s certified for HDR content it looks stunning and complements the phone well.
However, the back is more interesting. The Sunshine Gold version of this phone comes with India’s first Fluorite AG Glass Design, which has a color changing glass on the back that reacts to UV light, i.e. changes color in the sun. If you happen to have a UV lamp, you can have even more fun.
As if that wasn’t enough, you also get Fluorite AG glass, which glitters and sparkles when it catches the light at different angles. This is a truly stunning phone that can hold its own in the presence of flagships that cost double!
The cameras are no less interesting. The rear camera array is impressive enough, with a 108 MP F1.88 main camera and accompanying 8 MP ultra wide angle and 2 MP macro, but it’s the front that is intriguing. With a 50 MP selfie camera with eye autofocus and an extreme night mode, sharp portraits are guaranteed in all lighting conditions. To top it off, you get a secondary ultra-wide camera for larger groups, loads of AI features and 20+ portrait effects to enhance your shot, and the pièce de résistance, a two-tone spotlight that adjusts the color temperature, to ensure a natural image skin tones!
This spotlight also helps with the various AI camera modes like the party mode to make sure you’re well lit while giving your background a more dreamy look. Oh, and we have 4K 60, support with HDR and dual video options on it. mentioned? front Camera?
This stylish phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G chip, which is based on a 6 nm process and is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. A higher quality 12/256 option is also available.
The 4,300 mAh battery included in the scope of delivery easily lasts a day or longer, and if it is empty, it charges to 63% in just 30 minutes thanks to 44 W flash charge support.
OnePlus Nord 2 X PAC-Man-Edition
A great alternative to the vivo V23 Pro is the OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-Man Edition phone. It is powered by the same Dimensity 1200 5G chip and offers a bit more RAM and storage space for the same price – dark back panel that is no less interesting.
It’s a bit heavier and thicker, and the cameras are admittedly not that impressive (50 MP F1.9 rear camera and 32 MP F2.5 on the front), but they are great cameras in and of themselves and deliver excellent selfies and photos in the most lighting conditions. The rear camera also supports 4K 30 video and FHD 240 fps slow motion.
The PAC-Man theme extends to the OS, where you’ll find tons of Easter eggs and mini-games, not to mention a custom clear cover that compliments the glow-in-the-dark back!
The phone’s 4,500mAh battery supports an impressive 65W fast charger.
Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G
The Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G is a more traditional phone in this category with a sleek, sleek design with front and back glass that encloses an aluminum frame. It has a large 6.55-inch FHD + AMOLED panel that updates at 90Hz and is also powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G chip.
12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage are available in this budget, but this is slower UFS 2.1 storage, which should not have any noticeable effects in everyday life.
At 177 grams, the phone is very light and at 7.6 mm it is also very thin.
The camera array is pretty impressive as you get a 64 MP F1.7 rear camera, an 8 MP F2.2 ultra wide, and two 2 MP F2.4 cameras for macro and depth. These cameras support 4K 30 and FHD 60 video, as well as HDR and EIS. The front camera is a 32 MP F2.4 unit with FHD30 recording capabilities.
This phone also has a large 4,500mAh battery with an incredibly fast 65W fast charge support.
The phone is available in black, blue, Aurora, Majestic Gold and a special Diwali Edition finish.
