Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and director Jaume Collet-Serra’s superhero passion project is still a long way off, but DC Fandome gave fans a glimpse of the upcoming film, including a clip of the electrifying introduction of Black Adam.
Pierce Brosnan, who will appear in the upcoming blockbuster Dr. Fate plays, the segment begins with a big claim: “I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve made James Bond for ten years, four films, nothing is comparable.” Hawkman actor Aldis Hodge calls Black Adam “more brutal, uncompromising, driven by the depths of his pain.” Supported by the clip in which we introduce Johnson’s title character in the film, we can expect a ruthless portrayal of Black Adam.
Johnson reveals Black Adam has started the post-production process and is preparing for its theatrical release on July 29, 2022. In the video above, you can take a look at some concept art and a short scene from the film. The new footage shows a woman reading old text engraved in the stone floor after discovering a floating crown. When reading the word “Shazam” aloud, the scriptures glow and a flash of lightning breaks the darkness in the ruins. A hooded Black Adam rises from where lightning struck. He grabs a soldier who electrocutes him and eats the man to the bone. Adam then floats in the air as a volley of senseless bullets ricochets harmlessly off his pitch-black suit.
