Canon has announced the launch of four new professional camcorders in its XA series, the compact and lightweight XA65 and XA60, and the high image quality XA75 and XA70.
Canon’s XA-Series professional camcorders deliver the high image quality and high mobility required for on-site video recording in sectors such as broadcast, news reporting, documentary film production and event recording.
The newly-announced XA75 and XA70 models inherit the same high performance as their predecessors, with the addition of new support for the UVC or USB Video Class communication protocol, which enables video transmission over a USB connection. This new feature makes the cameras better suited for use in the increasingly popular live streaming, budget movies and content creation sectors.
The XA75 and XA70 are equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV 6 image processor. Equipped with a 4K-compatible 15x optical zoom lens with a zoom range from approx. 25.5mm wide-angle to approx. 382.5mm telephoto, both the XA75 and XA70 support high-quality 4K video recording at 30 fps throughout zoom range.
The large sensor enables recording of videos with large background blur and bright, highly sensitive shots with minimal noise in low-light environments. Thanks to Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, the XA75/XA70 have smooth autofocus and subject tracking during shooting. Even when shooting 4K, intuitive touch panel operations allow users to focus quickly and accurately.
The XA65 and XA60, on the other hand, are equipped with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV 6 image processor and a 4K-compatible 20x optical zoom lens in a compact and lightweight body that weighs around 750g .
The camera supports 4K recording at 30 fps over the entire zoom range – from around 29.3mm at the wide-angle end to around 601mm at the telephoto end. In addition, the data from the 4K sensor can also be used for oversampling HD processing to record high-resolution Full HD video at 60 fps.
These new cameras are the first in Canon’s XA series to offer UVC compatibility, enabling high-quality image streaming with just a single Type-C cable. In addition, the cameras are equipped with a large and bright 3.5-inch, 2.76-million-pixel electrostatic capacity LCD touchscreen monitor, and a 0.36-inch, 1.77-million-pixel tilted EVF for a improved visibility when shooting outdoors. There is also a digital zoom function for a larger zoom range and a “text overlay” on-screen display function that displays information such as date and timecodes overlaid on captured images.
The Canon XA70 and XA75 will go on sale from November 2022 and will cost Rs 2,79,495 and Rs 2,45,495 respectively. On the other hand, the Canon XA60 and XA65 will go on sale from October 2022 and will cost Rs 1,14,995 and 2,06 respectively Cost Rs.995.
