Earlier this year, the DeLorean Motor Company confirmed that the legendary DeLorean was made famous by Back to the Future returns as an electric vehicle. We now get our second taste of the stunning EV and confirmation that everything will be revealed on April 18th.
The “DeLorean EVolved” will be an all-electric luxury vehicle with gullwing doors, tons of power and a completely new interpretation of the famous car. In February, the first teaser images said it would be released in 2022, and a full prototype of the DeLorean EV would be on display in Pebble Beach on August 21. Fans can see the car in the concept lawn section.
However, today DMC announced that they are moving things forward and will officially unveil the all-new DeLorean EV on April 18th. While the press release says that’s the “unveiling date,” a post on Twitter says the car “comes into focus” on the 18th.
Let’s clear things up a little. The next generation of DeLorean comes into focus on August 18, 2022. For more information, see the press release here: https://t.co/Q4Rax2aBC1 #DeLorean #DeloreanEVolved #first sight pic.twitter.com/H0t0i4ODqv

As of now, we’re unsure what the official name for the car will be. In the press release, DeLorean Motor Company said it plans to change the electric vehicle’s official name on April 18. The original Back to the Future The car is still referred to today by its pre-production designation DMC-12. We doubt the company will use that as inspiration, but we’ll have to wait and see.
DMC referred to the EV as a concept and clarified that the model on display at Pebble Peach later this month is a prototype. So if this car ever gets into production and becomes something we can actually buy, like the Cybertruck, expect some changes ahead of its inevitable release in 2023 or beyond.
Anyway, on April 18th, the DMC DeLorean will officially appear as a futuristic luxury car. Considering it’s a high-end EV, we feel like it can go from 0 to 88 MPH with ease. For now, you can learn more on the Delorean website.
