Sunday’s season 2 finale garnered 6.6 million viewers for its debut to set a new high. On average, each episode in Season 2 had 16.3 million viewers, combining all numbers for live and on-demand viewing. This makes Euphoria HBO’s most popular series since 2004, behind only Game of Thrones.
Euphoria was created, written and directed by Sam Levinson, son of Oscar winner Barry Levinson (Rain Man, The Natural). Levinson also directed Zendaya in the Netflix film Malcolm & Marie, which also starred John David Washington.
In other HBO news, the Game of Thrones series is making a return of some sort with a prequel series called House of the Dragon set to release later this year. Filming was recently completed.
