Bioware has had a rough few years. After the critical and commercial success of Dragon Age: Inquisition, The studio moved on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, two games that abandoned the principles of previous Bioware titles under increasing publisher pressure.
More than six years have passed since then inquisitionand although we know dragon age 4 is in development, it will be a while before we see it. Of the dragon age 4 Release date to the teaser trailer to the news and rumors we could find, here’s everything we know dragon age 4

We know dragon age 4 is a work in progress, thanks to the Game Awards 2018 teaser and some concept art that was released just a few months ago (more on both in the sections below). But it won’t come for a long time. During the EA Q2 2020 earnings callCFO and COO of EA, Blake Jorgensen, said: “You should assume Dragon Age is out there, and we’ve spoken publicly that it’s in the works and likely coming after FY22… You should assume that.” it is out there and that plans are underway for this product as well as several other products.”
EA’s fiscal year ends March 31, so given Jorgensen’s testimony to investors, we won’t see anything until at least April 2022. That’s the earliest we’ll see dragon age 4, but the wait could last until March 2023. Last but not least, the potential dragon age 4 The release date pretty much confirms that the game will be available as opposed to Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC Dragon Age: Inquisition, launched concurrently on current and last generation platforms.
The latest news we received was in February 2022 when BioWare explained in a blog post“We are in the middle of production for the next Dragon Age.” This only confirms the fact that we should not expect this title until 2023 at the earliest.
Aside from some artwork shown during EA Play 2020 – which we’ll get to next – EA hasn’t released much about it dragon age 4 However, during Gamescom 2020 we took a different look at it.
Despite four minutes in length, the look behind the scenes doesn’t really say anything dragon age 4 At best, the video shows that Bioware is getting closer to a release date. The beginning of the video also mentions next-gen hardware, far from affirmatively dragon age 4 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Also, since it’s so late in the generation, it would be safe to assume it won’t come to last-gen systems as well.
Otherwise, the video offers a few glimpses of gameplay as well as one specific returning character: Solas. This isn’t necessarily news – Bioware was quite accommodating that Solas will be a key character in the next game – but it’s nice to get confirmation.
Bioware showed the first official teaser trailer for dragon age 4 during The Game Awards 2020. The trailer features Solas and some of the characters you might be able to play, set against a vivid fantasy world full of colour.
Otherwise, there was a trailer at The Game Awards in 2018, as well as a behind-the-scenes look during Gamescom 2020. As with most teasers, there’s not much to do in the trailer other than a single dialogue saying, “So you’ve finally found me. Accompanying that line is a tag that reads, “The Dread Wolf Rises.” You can see the teaser below.
We’re diving into spoiler territory here, so if you’re interested in playing Dragon Age: Inquisition jump ahead before the fourth entry in the row. The dire wolf in Dragon Age refers to the elven god Fen’Harel, using the name “dire wolf” during the intruder DLC for inquisition. The lore is complex, to say the least, and users on Reddit have already started the long dismantling of the trailer. In short, Solas, a companion in Inquisition, confesses to being Fen’Harel in the intruder DLC. He then explains the risks of the Inquisition becoming corrupt before the Inquisitor has a choice of stopping Solas or redeeming him. Solas also says the phrase, “I assume you have questions.”
Of course we don’t know the plot dragon age 4, but it’s clear that Solas is the focus. To further confirm this, Bioware tweeted a handwritten letter from Solas inviting the Inquisitor to tea in celebration of Dragon Age: Inquisitionits five year anniversary.

The other thing the trailer touches on is red lyrium – specifically a red lyrium idol by Dragon Age II If you haven’t played the second game, spoiler alert: after finding the idol with Varric and his brother Bartrand in the first act, it poisons Bartrand’s mind. We can clearly see the idol in the center of the mural, although we don’t know what will happen inside dragon age 4, it will likely involve Solas getting his hands on the corrupted idol.
Another note from the trailer: It never says “dragon age 4,” easy easy “Dragon Age.” Although a small detail, Bioware could only name this new game dragon time – it’s not a title reserved for the first game in the series, after all.
We don’t have gameplay for dragon age 4 yet, but EA has teased some concept art that gives a glimpse of what the game will look like.
During EA Play 2020, amid a hype reel for next-gen titles, Laura Miele, EA’s Chief Studio Officer, said, “Bioware envisions and creates worlds where you become the hero of your own story,” against the backdrop of the following pictures. Although there was no direct evidence of it dragon age 4, Miele speaks of Bioware’s “fantasy worlds”, which at least is enough for us.
If the above images are not of dragon age 4, They’re from another epic fantasy RPG outside of Bioware. Assuming we know dragon age 4 is in active development, but it is assumed that they are from the fourth entry in the series. Also, the images clearly show red Lyrium.
in the a Kotaku reportBioware confirmed that the next Dragon Age game will feature live service elements. This is believed to be coming from EA, which has continued to stand behind games with a post-launch monetization lifecycle in previous earnings calls. Following the report, Casey Hudson tweeted the following:
If you read a lot of Dragon Age feedback, you’ll be relieved to see what the team is working on. Story & Character Focused.
It’s still too early to talk about details, but when we say “live” it just means making a game that continues after the main story.

As a Bioware contributor Jason Schreier said, “Dragon Age games change more than other games,” so we don’t have a clear direction for the live service elements (even if we did, they likely would change, at least according to it Bioware employees). However, reports from the studio suggest that they will only focus on multiplayer, with the main single-player campaign untouched by microtransactions.
To the delight of many fans out there, the joint success of Jedi: Fallen Order and the failure of anthem has caused EA to change gears with this game and remove the live service elements it was supposed to contain. A Bloomberg report outlines how EA and the team decided to go so far as to remove all multiplayer elements from the game.
EA hasn’t said much about it dragon age 4, let alone its post-launch plans. However, we suspect Bioware will be working on DLC packs once the game finally launches. Of Dragon Age: Origins to Inquisition, Bioware has supported each title with add-ons and extensions, some of which are crucial to fully understand the story.
When the DLC will appear, it will likely be shortly after launch. Dragon Age: Origins received its first post-launch DLC just two months after release, and Dragon Age: Inquisition got its first DLC pack four months after launch.
Pre-orders have not increased dragon age 4 still. In fact, we don’t even have a release date yet. Looking at past releases, Bioware will have multiple editions of them dragon age 4 with various pre-order bonuses.
Dragon Age: Inquisition topped with a $170 “Inquisitor’s Edition” which included a deck of tarot cards, a special case, a cloth card, a full lockpicking set, a pen and ink, a badge, some coins and a 40-page journal. Several years have passed since then inquisitionand the video game industry has changed a lot, but we still expect EA to release a big, bold Collector’s Edition for dragon age 4 packed with pre-order bonuses.
