After dealing with Metroid in Season 1, the second season of Game informersThe Video Gameography Podcast continues on to one of the biggest shooter franchises out there: Halo. This week we’re exploring Bungie’s smaller experimental entry on the series, Halo 3: ODST.
Halo 3: ODST was released on the Xbox 360 on September 22nd, 2009 and was supposed to be a smaller project designed by a Skunkworks team. However, ODST’s development has its roots in Peter Jackson’s failed attempt to make a Halo movie / game. In the next hour we talk about the relatively short development time of ODST, why the title of Halo 3: Recon was changed, the innovative Firefight multiplayer mode and Bungie’s push to break away from Microsoft and become its own company again.
Join the hosts Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves) and Marcus Stewart (@ MarcusStewart7) and earlier Game informers Editor Bryan Vore (@Bryan_Vore) as we unpack the story and implications of the first Halo game that didn’t include Master Chief. And for more Halo, be sure to check out our final leaderboard of each Halo game.
