After accidentally selling a handful of Steam Deck replacement parts, iFixit is back with enough merchandise for everyone. And its biggest selling point, believe it or not, is a quiet replacement fan that Steam Deck owners use to get rid of that awful whining noise.
The entire Steam deck philosophy is pretty unprecedented. Valve actually encourages users to tinker with the software and even provides CAD files for those who want to make custom cases and accessories. More notable, however, is the fact that Valve has partnered with iFixit to sell official parts.
Our friends at iFixit have already published tons of Steam Deck repair guides, including one on replacing the whine fan that is driving customers crazy. This guide is pretty easy, but it does require a little patience and confidence.
You can buy iFixit’s Steam Deck silent fan for just $25. But I suggest buying the $30 replacement kit which has all the tools you need for the job. These tools will come in handy the next time you decide to open up and tinker with the deck – I know you’re tempted to replace that SSD!
Replacement Steam Deck Fan
Does your Steam Deck have a whine fan? Replace with iFixit’s new kit. You can purchase the replacement fan without the kit if you already have the tools.
