Kicking opponents is great. kick in doors? Also great. Using this math, it’s possible to kick down doors so hard they fly into enemies twice as big. FPS anger foot is full of doors and enemies, and all you have to do is kick one into the other.
Anger Foot has been around for a while, the product of a 2020 Game Jam challenge to create a first-person game in seven days, followed by a proper alpha in 2021. Over the past year, it has been regularly updated with new levels. Enemies, weapons, props, and music tracks – plus lots of new shoes for all the kicks you’ll be doing.
I dived into it for the first time today and it reminds me a lot of Hotline Miami except it’s in the first person perspective. Its levels are packed with armed gang members (anthropomorphic animals like crocodiles and crows) ready to swarm the moment you step through the front door. Most items are breakable, from toilets to lamps to furniture. So by the time you’ve fought your way through the level, the entire place is an absolute mess, splattered with blood and littered with debris. (Gangs usually have exploding barrels in their lairs, right?) The levels are timed, so once you’ve fought your way through one, you can run it again to see if you can beat your own record.
The kicking is just excellent. I have prepared a montage for you:
You don’t have to rely only (haha) on your feet. There’s weaponry too: pistols, shotguns, and uzis, and you’ll likely need them at some point because as good as you are at kicking, it only takes a swipe from an enemy bat or a few bullets to knock you down. You don’t have to reload your guns – if your gun is empty, you have to take a new one from a dead guy. (You can throw your empty gun at guys to briefly stun them). But it’s fun to see if you can just kick your way through entire levels without ever pulling a trigger, and if you do a feet-only run you’ll be rewarded with trophies that can be used to unlock new shoes .
I’ve unlocked a pair of new shoes that give me extra ammo when I dead kick someone, but I prefer the shoes that add extra power to all my kicks. I also have some sneakers that I can use to load up an extra powerful kick and it’s hilarious. I basically become Superman with one foot:
It’s all very brutal, gory, goofy and completely foot oriented. Once I encountered a heavy steel door that I could not enter. Next to it was a metal valve wheel that obviously had to be turned to open the door. At first I couldn’t figure out how to rotate it. Then I realized that like all problems, it can be solved with a kick.
The banging soundtrack, which always delivers dull techno sounds, also contributes to the atmosphere, as if you were standing in front of a nightclub. But the beats escalate into full blown techno rave whenever there’s something going on. As an added bonus, your enemies will dance to the beat when they kill you, and they dance pretty well.
Anger Foot is pure goofy over the top violence with killer beats for killer feet. It’s especially good when you’re in a bad mood and just want to kick your way through a building full of animal gangsters, leaving a trail of smashed doors and bloody bodies in your wake.
