One of the most anticipated games of 2022 (if not THE most anticipated) is Elden Ring, due out on the 25th of this month. Nvidia has released a new one Game Ready Driver that comes with tweaks so you can jump straight into the Lands Between on day one and hopefully (hopefully…) be free from nitpicking.
Elden Ring might be the hitter of the bunch, but the 511.79 driver includes optimizations for several other titles as well. Total War: Warhammer III, GRID Legends, and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen will see many players jump right into it once they’re unlocked and ready to play. It’s also worth noting that the popular sim racing title iRacing is getting DLSS support.
The PC Gamer team covers almost every aspect of Elden Ring and will continue to do so after launch. If RPG-style games aren’t your thing, or you need an Elden Ring refresher, here’s everything we know so far.
One thing is for sure, you need a powerful system to keep Elden Ring looking its best. Nvidia isn’t currently adding DLSS support, but it’s pretty safe to say it will come at some point in the future. The high minimum system requirements indicate that Elden Ring is a very challenging game, albeit a beautiful one. DLSS would give a handy boost to gamers not lucky enough to be rocking the latest and greatest graphics cards.
How to buy a graphics card: Tips for buying graphics cards in the barren silicon landscape of 2022
Aside from updating your graphics card driver, you should also keep your Windows up to date. It’s worth checking your taskbar to see if you have any memory-hogging programs. You might want to close that browser window with its 100 tabs open to free up a good chunk of memory. You should also make sure you have enough free space on your SSD while leaving at least 10 percent free for things like using paging files and SSD background tasks. Please do not run Elden Ring from a hard drive if you can avoid it!
Here are some other things you can do to get your PC in tip-top shape before you leave the real world. And don’t forget to feed the cat or the dog or the kids.
AMD is also expected to release a new driver with optimized Elden Ring support. We reached out to AMD to see if there was any information on its plans.
