Harvestella is Square Enix’s new farming simulation-meets-RPG that was announced during today’s Nintendo Direct Mini.
The game takes place in a world where the four seasons are ruled by four giant crystals called Seaslight. But the cycle is broken by an anomalous event that triggers a “time of death” called Quietus, withering crops and threatening all life.
Harvestella’s gameplay divides time between action-oriented dungeon crawling and relaxed farm management. Players travel to areas representing the four seasons to battle monsters and explore dungeons. You can even hop on a submarine to traverse the oceans. Combat involves performing team maneuvers with party members, and each character can be equipped with various jobs that grant unique traits, abilities, and combat styles.
When you are not fighting for world survival, return to your village to take care of your farm. Raising crops and livestock allows you to harvest ingredients for crafting. When the job is done, socializing with the townspeople is another important distraction. Along the way you will meet a number of characters such as B. a time traveler from the future, and completing quests for them grants rewards and improves your bonds with them.
Harvestella looks fascinating and we can’t wait to see more of it. It’s not too far away either, launching November 4th for Switch and PC via Steam.
