If you’re an iPhone user, you’ve likely used Notes, Apple’s built-in note-taking tool. It’s a great place to sketch, write down ideas, or make lists to share with other Apple users.
With the release of iOS 15, Apple redesigned its note-taking features to include tags and smart folders. Get the most out of your iPhone’s Notes app with these handy features.
How to use tags in your Apple Notes
Most of us commonly use notes to quickly jot down notes and ideas that can build up over time and make them difficult to search through all of them later. Use tags to organize and categorize your notes. Tags are keywords to which an a. is prepended Hash (#) sign.
Just add one or more tags directly to your notes. Any word that you enter after the hash sign turns gray. Definitely strike place or return after the word so that it turns yellow and becomes a day. Notes can only recognize yellow tags.
Find specific notes using the tag browser
Tag browsers allow you to instantly search for notes that contain one or more tags. You can find the Tag Browser in Notes folder view under all of your other folders. Only the tags currently in use are displayed here.
To use the tag browser, just tap on one or more tags and you’ll get a list of all the notes with your selected tags.
Organize notes automatically with smart folders
Enhance your tag game by using custom smart folders. This feature automatically groups all your notes that contain certain tags so that they are easy to find at any time. To activate this:
Open that Remarks App, then go to the Folder view.
Tap the Add folder icon, then choose New smart folder.
Select one or more tags from the suggested options. You can also add new tags by typing in the text box that says: Create a new tag.
Rename your Smart Folder, then tap complete.
Your new custom Smart Folder is displayed in the folder view with a. displayed Gear icon Besides. If you want to add more tags or rename your Smart Folder:
Tap the Smart folder You want to change. Choose Ellipsis (…) symbol in the upper right corner of the screen.
Tap Edit smart folder.
Rename the folder, add or remove tags.
Top: Be sure to tag all of your notes so you can find them in your Smart Folders.
Just keep taking notes
While the iPhone’s Notes app seems like a very simple tool, it has smart features to help you stay organized and keep track of your projects. With these tagging features, you can focus on getting your ideas down without worrying too much about where to save each note.
