The Graphorn mount in San Bakar’s trial
To be clear, the Graphorn is currently the only ground mount in Hogwarts Legacy. She only becomes available after you complete San Bakar’s Trial, which is one of the final quests in the game. Therefore, all you have to do is progress further in the campaign until it becomes available.
Once you start it, go to the Cragcroft Shore, which is in the southern half of the world map. Use Incendio or Confringo on the vines to reveal a Graphorn carving. From there, your task is to capture a Graphorn. His lair is on the Clagmar Coast, at the southeastern tip of the map. You can use your broomstick or flying mount to reach the location faster.
The Hogwarts Legacy Graphorn is unlike most other Fantastic Beasts you’ve seen before in that it’s a boss encounter. It has very basic attacks: it will just charge up and ram you. But it also has a tough skin that can withstand a lot of damage. Aside from your Ancient Magic and Ancient Magic Throw, only your red spells (e.g. Expelliarmus, Incendio, Confringo, and Bombarda) can reduce his health.
Focus on combat and roll out when needed. Once you take it out, a short cutscene will play and you have a choice:
- Kneel – Show the creature that you pose no threat.
- Attack – Subdue the creature with your power.
Either way, your character will ride the Graphor. You can use its special charging ability. You can activate this by holding down the attack button. It will bulldoze enemies and break through barricades. However, his stamina will also be exhausted quickly.

Can you capture and tame a Graphorn while exploring?
Yes, it is possible to capture and tame a Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy even if you are roaming free. However, you still have to complete San Bakar’s exam.
Once you’ve done that, return to the Graphorn Cave in the southeast corner of the map. You still have to fight the creature waiting for you here, and the same mechanics apply (i.e. only red spells and old magic deal damage).
After defeating the Graphorn, you can cast the Nab Sack to bring the animal back to your vivarium. This allows you to have multiple Graphorns in your Sanctum. Don’t forget to pet and feed them so you can acquire the Graphorn Horn material.
