For the most part, Samsung dominates the foldable phone market, but as the company continues to thrive with its foldable phones, it’s only natural that others would want to join the action too. The latest company to step into the foldable space would be Honor, Huawei’s former sub-brand before it was spun off into its own business.
Honor is slated to announce its first foldable Honor Magic V next Monday, and now thanks to a Post on Weibo, the possible prices for the phone have been leaked. Assuming these prices are correct, it appears that the Magic V will start selling at CNY 13,999, which is roughly $ 2,200 when converted.
It should be noted that the Magic V is actually more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which launched at $ 1,800 due to its currency conversion, but is cheaper compared to the phone based on the China price of CNY 14,999. We’re not sure how much it could cost if launched in the US, but presumably the company could also try to undercut the competition.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not the Magic V is worth the price, but it’s good to see alternatives that will hopefully force Samsung to step up its game.
