Users familiar with the Alarms app in iOS may remember that with the introduction of iOS 14, Apple changed the time selection and introduced a numpad entry that surprised many users. Many users found it easier to set the alarm time while others favored the old sliding tool.
With iOS 15, Apple switched back to the famous time sliders, but with a little twist for those who prefer the numeric keypad.
There is a new iOS 15 alarm control
After Apple received feedback on the iOS 14 Numpad entry, Apple decided to bring back the big time choices in iOS 15. This dial style control is similar to what was seen in iOS 13 and earlier versions. You can find it as standard throughout the system in iOS 15.
However, many people had gotten used to numpad input and actually enjoyed it – mainly because there was less chance of errors in using it. For example, you can quickly enter the exact time you want to set the alarm by typing the number pad.
You can do the same thing with a dial picker too, but the slightest fingerprint can set the alarm from 4:00 to 5:00 or 4:59, which can be disastrous if you don’t notice.
Fortunately, Apple incorporated both methods of setting the alarm into iOS 15. It might not seem obvious at first, but you can also access the Numpad entry by tapping the Dial Picker in Alarm Clock Settings.
How to use your keyboard to set the alarm time
You can set the alarm time using the numeric keypad instead of dial select by following these steps:
On your device, open the clock, then tap alarm.
Either select an existing alarm time to change or press the Plus button (+) to start a new one.
Tap the hour or minute digit of the dialer.
A number pad should appear; use it to enter the time for the alarm. Remember to set AM / PM as desired.
Then tap Save on computer to set your alarm clock.
You can also use the Extinguish on the keyboard to correct mistakes in entering the time.
Now you can choose between the dial picker and the numpad
It’s that easy to set an alarm on your iPhone or iPad! Whether you’re using the Option key or the numeric keypad, check the alarm time to make sure it rings on time! You can set up a custom ringtone for your alarm clock if you think the default ringtones aren’t waking you up as well.
