Microsoft Phone Link – formerly known as “Your Phone” – is a must-have app for Windows 11 users with Android phones. You get access to your phone’s notifications, messages and photos right on your PC. We’ll help you set it up.
We start the process on the Android side. The companion app is called “Link to windows‘ and is available on the Google Play Store on your Android phone or tablet. Select Samsung Galaxy devices already installed this app.
Once installed, open the app and tap “Link Phone and PC” to get started.
Next, we’ll switch to your Windows 11 PC. open that phone link App and click Get Started. The Phone Link app comes preinstalled on Windows 11 PCs.
Top: This app is also included in Windows 10. You can use Phone Link on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs.
Check the I already have the Windows app link box and click Pair with QR code.
Grab your Android phone again and tap Next on the Link to Windows app. Point the camera at the QR code on your PC.
Once connected, you need to grant some permissions to the Android app to make it work properly. Tap Next to continue.
Permissions required include contacts, making and managing phone calls, access to media, and sending and receiving text messages. Tap “Allow” to continue with all.
Now that the app has permissions, you may be prompted to allow it to run in the background to stay connected to your PC. Tap Next to continue.
A pop-up will ask if you want to allow the app to always run in the background. Choose “Allow”.
We are now done with your Android phone. Over on your Windows 11 PC, the Phone Link app has a Next button you can click.
The Phone Link app will now guide you through setting up a few features. We’ll start with View My Notifications.
In order to send notifications to your PC, the Link to Windows app needs permission to view Android notifications. Click “Open Settings on Phone” in the sidebar to get started.
Check your Android device for a notification asking you to open the notification settings. Tap “Open” to get there.
You will be taken to the “Device and app notifications” settings. Look for “Link to Windows” in the list and make sure “Allow notification access” is checked.
That’s it! Notifications appear in the Notifications sidebar in the Windows app. When a notification pops up, you can remove it from your Android device by clicking the “X” icon.
The Messages tab requires no additional setup. It works like any other messaging app. You can read and reply to messages from your PC.
The Photos tab also requires no setup. It shows recent photos from your Android device.
Finally, the sidebar shows the battery level of your connected device and allows you to adjust some device settings and control the media being played.
Now you can use your Android phone from your Windows 11 PC! Phone Link is an invaluable app that saves you from constantly switching back and forth between your phone and PC.
