With its accessible gameplay and chess-like complexity, Into the Breach was an incredible strategy option for both PC and Switch owners. With the upcoming Advanced Edition expansion, new content will be pumped into the mech tactics games where it can already be played. Even better, mobile versions land the same day with the new DLC built in from the start.
Subset Games, which also developed the space-ready Rogue-lite FTL, will release the Advanced Edition on July 19th. It includes new units, weapons, pilots, abilities and more. There is a more challenging difficulty level for experienced players, along with new bosses and enemies to learn how to defeat efficiently and effectively. Here are some points of what to expect in the Advanced Edition update of Into the Breach:
- Five new mech squads
- Almost 40 new weapons
- Four new pilots and new pilot skills
- New enemies, bosses and missions
- More difficult level of difficulty
- Seven new languages
- New music by Ben Prunty
Into the Breach will also make its mobile debut on July 19, but these editions are only available to Netflix subscribers. Subset Games promises that there will be no ads or in-app purchases associated with the mobile app. All you need to access it is to be a Netflix subscriber, and the game is accessible for free on your iOS and Android devices. These versions include an overhauled touch interface designed to work better on a smaller screen like a cellphone.

For those who like to collect, Into the Breach will have one physical edition for Switch courtesy of Fangamer. Pre-orders are live now, and the boxed copy will be released later this year. This tactile copy of Into the Breach will include the Advanced Edition content listed above, but will also include other physical goodies such as a poster, inner sleeve box art, instruction manual, and sticker sheets.
