As smartphones are now able to play music, the need for dedicated music players has decreased, with the exception of those in the audiophile community who are still using certain brands and models that support lossless audio playback. Even Apple’s famous iPod no longer has a home in the company’s website navigation bar.
Thanks to TikTokers, however, the iPod Shuffle seems to be enjoying a new surge in popularity, especially the second-generation model, which came in bright and fun colors. However, these TikTokers don’t necessarily use these iPods the way Apple intended, but rather as fashion accessories that many find them to be pretty good hair clips.
That being said, we doubt this surge in popularity will make Apple rethink the return. It should be noted that the iPod Shuffle was officially discontinued back in 2017 and currently the only iPod Apple still sells is the iPod Touch, which users will have to look for specifically.
The iPod Shuffle has lasted four generations in total, and over the years we’ve seen different iterations of the iPod series including Nano, Mini, Classic, and Touch. So if you happen to have an old iPod shuffle lying around and usually wear hair clips, perhaps this could be a new fashion accessory worth trying out.
