In these tests, Microsoft Defender scored 40 points – the maximum an antivirus can achieve. And it wasn’t alone, as the vast majority of antivirus programs scrutinized, from Avast to Kaspersky, also passed 40 points.

This report will surely bring some reassuring news to Windows users. Not only does the built-in Windows antivirus have enough power to stop ransomware attacks, but so do many other free favorites out there.
