Be honest: Have you ever heard of it? disease before Sony announced its plans for a live-action adaptation? There’s no shame in not knowing who he was in Marvel’s comic book universe. Morbius had a few comic series of his own, but he was rarely a main character. However, Morbius’ connection to Spider-Man is why Sony has the rights to produce this non-MCU Marvel film. And ahead of the film’s final trailer, Sony Pictures explains the story of Morbius for the uninitiated.
Jared Leto hosts the new Lore of Morbius video since he is in the film as Dr. Michael Morbius, a man suffering from a rare blood disorder. The diagnosis of Morbius is incurable, but the cure he finds could be far worse than the disease. For now, Morbius has a vampire’s bloodlust and many of the powers associated with the children of the night.
The crucial difference that allowed Morbius to make his debut in the 1971s Amazing Spider-Man #101 is that he is a “living vampire”. Writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane dreamed up this twist to circumvent the Comics Code Authority’s restrictions on supernatural characters in comics. These restrictions were later lifted, but Morbius’ unique origins were retained because it set him apart from Dracula and other vampires. Morbius at least had hope of reclaiming his former life since he never actually died.
Adria Arjona stars in the film as Morbius’ fiancĂ©e Martine Bancroft with Ex Doctor Who Star Matt Smith as the film’s villain, Loxia’s Crown. Tyrese Gibson and Al Madrigal play FBI agents Simon Stroud and Alberto Rodriguez, respectively. You’ve been given the task of hunting down Morbius, which is easier said than done.
disease will hit theaters on April 1st. A new trailer will premiere on Monday, February 28th.
