If you’re even a passing fan of the John Wick series, chances are you’ve come across one of Keanu Reeves’ training videos for the series at some point. The actor is firing hundreds of real rounds with expert instructors to prepare for his brutal action films, and he’s applying the same focus, dedication and will to driving stunts in the upcoming John Wick 4, according to a new featurette.
“We’ve got all the John Wick swag: cars, new guns, jiu-jitsu,” Reeves says in the video. “With Chapter 4, we took it to another level.”
Reeves says in the video that in addition to all his work on the previous films, he completed about 12 weeks of training for the film. That includes training with nunchucks, which Reeves describes as “challenging,” before the video cuts to him throwing her to the ground in frustration.
“For Chapter 4, we wanted to bring back muscle cars,” Reeves continues. “We’re going to have this sequence around the Arc de Triomphe.”
“We ripped off all the doors and lost the windshield,” says stunt coordinator Scott Rogers. “You do a reverse one-eighty and have to fire and reload a gun. He actually started getting to good in the car.”
“We smash people, we hit people, it’s just amazing,” says Reeve. “Have we gone too far?”
John Wick: Chapter 4, which is said to have “by far” the most action in the series, hits theaters on March 24, 2023.
