If you’ve browsed our laptop deals, you’ve probably noticed that Lenovo keeps popping up, and with good reason. The brand has a diverse range of products that are built to a fairly high standard. Take the IdeaPad Flex 5 for example – it’s a great student or business laptop. Lenovo has discounted it from $730 to $500, a nice $230 saving that can be used on accessories, software, or tuition.
The IdeaPad Flex 5 does an excellent job as a 2-in-1 laptop, largely due to the underlying AMD CPU it runs on. The AMD Ryzen 3 5300U is a surprisingly powerful CPU to find on a small laptop like this, but what makes it even better is that AMD CPUs tend to be cheaper for the same performance, so you get a nice little discount on these Front compared to an Intel. Although the IdeaPad Flex 5 doesn’t have a real GPU, it’s more than powerful enough to drive the 14-inch WUXGA display and make the touchscreen experience pretty smooth, especially if you also have the stylus, which is what sets this among the 2-in-1 laptop deals at a great price.
Even if you don’t intend to use the touchpad a lot, the keyboard is surprisingly comfortable to use for a laptop in this price range, and the same goes for the touchpad, which is accurate and centrally placed so unlikely to accidentally rub your palm over it. The 8GB of RAM is also great for tabs and apps, provided you don’t get too crazy, and the 512GB SSD should be more than enough for most people, although you can complement it with an external hard drive if that’s your thing not enough.
All in all, the IdeaPad Flex 5 is a great budget 2-in-1 that proves you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to get the 2-in-1 experience, especially with the deal from Lenovo lowering it to $500 from $730. That being said, if it doesn’t quite fit the bill, we have a few other student laptop deals you can check out for more options.
