Software updates are usually seen as a good thing. They introduce improvements to the current software, things like optimization and so on. Sometimes they come with new features too, and more importantly, they also include bug fixes and security loopholes.
Unfortunately for some Mac owners, Apple’s latest macOS 12.3 update appears to be causing more problems than it fixes. posts on Apple’s forums and Reddit have uncovered a number of user reports in which users claim that the update has in fact caused their computers to become bricked, which in some cases has led to logic board replacements.
According to reports, this seems to affect the new M1 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros more than other Mac computers. Apple hasn’t officially commented on the issue yet, but as they’re replacing the logic boards for affected users, they’re probably aware and hopefully a fix is in the works.
In the meantime, while it might be tempting to install macOS 12.3 since it finally brought users Universal Control, maybe wait until a fix is released in case you run into similar issues that other users are reporting.
