Palworld, aka “the bizarre Pokémon-esque game with guns,” has a new trailer that names the many cuddly faces that star in this over-the-top adventure.
Meet the miners, the monsters that roam Palworld’s colorful but twisted world. These cuddly but often dangerous creatures include the seemingly love-obsessed Lovander, the grass panda Mossanda, and Tanzee, who is basically Grookey when he has a love for the AK-47. Sure, some of them boldly push the line of being outright copies of existing Pokemon, but these can carry weapons, which we think is enough separation to ward off lawyers. Check out the latest trailer below.
Palworld first attracted attention in June 2021. Developer Pocketpair bills the experience as a multiplayer open-world survival game as opposed to a turn-based RPG like Pokémon. As a human character, you can capture, befriend, train, fight, and breed minions. If you think you are a bigger monster than what you catch, sell, eat and even exploit Pal for labor. In addition, you can build houses, fight poachers and build factories to make your creatures work. Palworld looks crazy and we’re still not entirely convinced it’s a real video game, but we definitely want it.
Thankfully, Pocketpair plans to release Palworld to Steam Early Access sometime next year, so hopefully we’ll get the chance to check it out sooner or later. The game is currently planned for PC.
