The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) recently shared a visualization video showing Monkey Head Nebula on its Instagram page.
NASA shared the stunning video with a caption that read, “Explore the Monkey Head Nebula!” The space agency also informed social media users that the spectacular Hubble visualization is about 6,400 light years away.
Hubble is a large space telescope that was put into low earth orbit by NASA in 1990. In 2014, it depicted the Monkey Head Nebula on his 24th birthday.

Since its release by NASA, the one-of-a-kind video has garnered nearly 35,000 likes and the number continues to grow. Several Instagram users also reacted to the video.
NGC 2174, also known as the Monkey Head Nebula, is a star forming region in dark space. In this region, the shiny newborn stars illuminate the surrounding gas with high-energy radiation near the center of the nebula.
According to NASA, this radiation, together with strong stellar winds, erodes the gas with a lower density. According to the space agency, gas bubbles containing higher density gas resist this erosion, forming pillars and peaks along the inner edge of the roughly circular cloud.
NASA is very active on Instagram and often shares similar types of amazing videos that grab the attention of many.
Last December, the space agency shared a clip of the Cosmic Reef entitled, “Underwater or Interstellar?” NASA also provided details, adding that the massive star formation zone is nicknamed the “Cosmic Reef” because of its similarities to the marine life.
The cosmic reef is 163,000 light years away and has two nebulae – NGC 2014, a large red nebula, and NGC 2020, a smaller blue nebula.
