Another fan favorite character war of stars Animation comes to live action. meeting reports that actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo was cast as Sabine Wren in the upcoming miniseries Star Wars: Ahsoka.
Sabine was one of the main characters in Star Wars rebelswhere it was spoken by Tiya Sircar. As established in Rebels, Sabine comes from one of the most prominent families on Mandalore and was also a recruit to the Imperial Academy before turning against the Empire and joining the rebels. Sabine is a seasoned warrior with custom-made Mandalorian armor that she can call her own. She is also an accomplished artist who brings her artistic skills to use in her rebellion.
Bordizzo had her first big break in the original Netflix movie Crouching tiger, hidden dragon: sword of fate. Some of their other credits include Crazy about you, The voyeurs, Detective Chinatown 2, Weapons Akimbo, and Hotel Mumbai. She’s also a trained martial artist, which should come in handy when portraying Sabine’s martial arts in her upcoming Star Wars debut.
Star Wars: Ahsoka will star Rosario Dawson as the former Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano. Like Sabine, Ahsoka comes from a Star Wars animation series. Ahsoka was one of the main characters in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and she was a supporting character in the second season of Rebels. There the connection between Ahsoka and Sabine was established.
In the last episode of Rebels, Sabine and Ahsoka have teamed up to find their missing friend Ezra Bridger. Ezra was a young rebel with Jedi-like abilities, although he never officially completed his training. Ezra and the rebels’ constant archenemy, Grand Admiral Thrawn, were kidnapped into unknown parts in the last episode of the series. However, Thrawn’s name was dropped during The Mandalorian Season 2, which may mean his return is imminent too.
Ahsoka is a direct spin-off from The Mandalorian, and Dawson made her Star Wars debut in season two. The Mandalorian‘s Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau will executive produce the series for Disney +. While Ahsoka Has no premiere date yet, Bordizzo’s casting suggests that filming could begin in a few months.
