Pokémon Gos Creator has a new augmented reality mobile game and this time it’s all about Pikmin. Niantic is now rolling out Pikmin flower worldwide, starting with Singapore and Australia where it’s already live. Similar to Pokémon Go, you have to go out and interact with the real world to enjoy the game. However, it is more of a fun and colorful companion for daily walks or hikes as it has no battles and does not have the incentive to catch rare monsters like Pokémon Go does.
In Pikmin flower, as you walk, find seedlings to pick up and grow into plant-like creatures to follow. The more you go, the more Pikmin you can pick and the more Pikmin will follow you. On the screen, you are portrayed as a Mii avatar, with a line of creatures running behind you, making more flowers bloom on your way. You can also collect items on your walks, including clothes that Pikmin can wear and fruit to feed your creatures so that flowers bloom on their heads.
John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, said in the game’s video announcement that the flowers that the Pikmin make can be viewed by other players, so you can plant gardens with your neighbors. Pikmin flower is now live in Singapore and Australia for Android and iOS and will arrive “soon” in additional countries and regions.
