EA’s newest Battlefield entry, Battlefield 2042, is slated for November 19th. However, it seems that it may not start with all of its features. According to the game’s developer, DICE, they told Polygon that the game won’t have voice chat available when the game launches.
Given that voice chat is so important for games like this, it seems a bit strange that DICE doesn’t include it at launch. The company didn’t give a reason why the feature wasn’t launching along with the game, but they did state that the feature will come into the game sometime after the game’s release, but didn’t say when exactly it would be available.
With these types of online games, voice chat is crucial when trying to play team-based modes. This helps players organize themselves, share information, develop strategies, etc. The lack of this feature could make the game a little more difficult.
As Polygon notes, this will most likely hit players who play the game’s Hazard Zone mode the hardest. That being said, there are alternatives to using in-game voice chat like Discord, but if you’re not playing with friends it can be difficult to coordinate with strangers.
