The 94th Academy Awards will air live on ABC this Sunday, March 27 at 8pm ET from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. For the first time in four years, the celebrations will feature not just one hostess, but three: Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall and Amy Schumer, each expected with their own unique style and sense of humor.
The stars will be out in full force to celebrate the best in cinema of the year, with films like Power of the Dog, Dune, Belfastand Westside Story dominates the nominations. While eight awards will be given and accepted prior to the live broadcast to streamline the process (it will still take three hours!), these are primarily given for behind-the-scenes roles such as film editing, make-up, hairstyling, and production design. This year also adds a new category: Fan Favorite Movie, which viewers vote for via Twitter using the hashtag #OscarsFanFavorite or by creating a virtual ballot on the Oscars Fan Favorites Website. But the big winners will take to the podium live.

forecast: With an Oscar already for her name The favourite In 2019 this is possible Olivia Colman could surprise with a win for this psychodrama written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. She plays Leda, a troubled middle-aged college professor who meets Nina (Dakota Johnson), a young mother who briefly loses her child on the beach and is unable to find her missing favorite stuffed animal. Leda, who herself once fought as a young mother, can relate, but as it turns out, the missing toy has a lot more meaning than thought. The character is layered and mysterious, which could give Colman an edge over the well-deserved Jessica Chastain and Academy favorite Nicole Kidman.

Prediction: Jesse Plemons is an overlooked actor who has convincingly played everyone from a ruthless hitman to a quirky, lonely cop in both movies and television. He moves beautifully between comedy and drama, delivering a powerful performance every time. While The power of the dog leaning much more towards the dramatic side, the film may raise its star a little higher. Plemons’ first Oscar nomination could be if he brings home the grand prize.
