A fun quirk of the Philips Hue “Christmas Lights” landing page is that it doesn’t feature any Christmas lighting products. But that discrepancy will be resolved on November 15, when Philips Hue will finally launch its first Christmas tree lights.
The new Philips Hue Festavia fairy lights are six meters long and contain 250 mini LEDs. They can be synced to music, but they also feature Philips Hue’s “Candle” and “Fireplace” effects, as well as a new “Sparkle” effect that mimics the twinkle of a typical Christmas light.
In particular, the Festavia lights can display multiple colors at the same time. You can use the Linear style to create a smooth gradient along your Christmas tree, or program five blocks of color with the Scattered style.
Obviously, smart Christmas lights are a big investment. But they’re also a great convenience — if the lights are too bright, turn them down (or turn them off) with an app or voice assistant. You can schedule the lights so there is no need for an outlet timer, or even create routines for the lights (so that they turn off automatically when you leave the house, for example).
The Philips Hue Festavia lights go on sale November 15 for $160. If you’re interested, I highly recommend buying these lights on launch day. This way you can enjoy the lights for a few weeks and hopefully avoid shipping delays.
