An independent video game store in Minnesota was robbed, allowing a thief to get away with an estimated $250,000 in cash and collectibles, including Pokemon cards.
KARE 11 of Forest Lake, Minnesota, reports that Punch Out Gaming’s family business Mom and Pop was recently robbed and the loss of Pokemon cards was particularly devastating (about Kotaku).
The thief allegedly entered the store next door and then gained entry to Punch Out Gaming by breaking through a wall. The robbery was caught on camera, with the thief clearly depicted on the video, but so far the criminal has apparently not been caught.
Co-owner Jason Peterson said of the heist and its impact on the business, “I just feel numb just seeing someone walk in and take away everything you’ve worked so hard on over the years.”
Punch Out Gaming has insurance, but Peterson said it probably won’t cover all losses. “This is devastating for us, it’s going to be really tough for us to weather the storm…” said Jason Peterson.
Jason Peterson runs Punch Out Gaming with his twin brother Eric, and he said the store has seen an increased demand for all things Pokemon lately. “If Pokemon is on it, it sells… Pokemon is literally the hottest thing right now,” said Eric Johnson fox 9.
No, this isn’t a scene from Ocean’s Eleven.
It’s a thief who breaks into a game store in Forest Lake by punching a hole in the wall.

Punch Out Gaming has been in business for eight years, and Peterson said the outpouring of support the company has received from the community since the raid “only makes our dedication even stronger.” Peterson said Punch Out Gaming will be back.
