When Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 series earlier this year, they officially brought S Pen support to the phone. This is a first fact that on Samsung phones, only the Note series supported the S Pen. However, this wasn’t an ideal setup as there wasn’t a dedicated slot for the pen.
This means that if users wanted to use the pen, they had to carry it with them separately where it could get lost. That could change in 2022 because, according to a series of photos Front Page Tech received, Samsung appears to be giving the phone a dedicated slot for the S Pen with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
This would suggest that the pen could be bundled with the phone, which is great news for users who might otherwise have been reluctant to buy it separately. It also seems that Samsung had to make the phone a bit thicker to accommodate the slot for the stylus, which also gets rid of the P-shaped camera hump, which we think is a good thing.
It’s unclear how much thicker the phone will be, but phones are pretty thin these days. Even if it were thicker, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it would make it easier and nicer to hold. The Galaxy S22 series is expected to hit the market in early 2022, but Samsung has yet to officially confirm a date.
