The new Galaxy S23 models
Samsung doesn’t change a winning formula, and just like last year’s Galaxy S, there are three smartphones: the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The new galaxy S23 and S23+ have almost identical specifications except for some elements, such as the screen and battery Size (3900 and 4700mAh), plus the maximum storage capacity. If you like compact phones, this is the one S23 is the smallest, with a 6.1″ FHD display while the S23+ is a 6.6″ smartphone.
the Galaxy S23 Ultra is in a different class and has significantly higher specifications, including a large one 6.8″ QHD Edge displayan integrated S Pena 5000mAh batteryfar superior camera hardware and higher maximum RAM and storage capacity.
Of course, prices reflect these fluctuations, and the phones cost accordingly $799.99, $999.99and $1199.99 (for the basic version with 256 GB). Pre-orders start today (February 1st)and these phones hit retail channels on February 17th.

S23 series design
From afar, however, the appearance of the new S23 phones is similar to last year’s phones A closer look reveals cleaner lines on the S23 and S23 plus as the camera hump is completely goneleaving only the round shapes of the multiple lenses.
Technically, that’s pretty cool, especially when there’s no compromise on camera specs. In the past, it was difficult for phone manufacturers to fit all of the high-performance camera boards without the presence of a hefty dent.
The back is available for all models in the following colors: Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and lavender. It’s worth checking whether Samsung might have exclusive colors on its websites.
All three phones are waterproof (IP68)and their glass surfaces are high strength Gorilla Glass Victus2, while the metal body is Armor Aluminum. Samsung is very familiar with these materials.
Recycled Materials
The S23 series consists of many recycled materials, including 20% recycled Gorilla Glass Victus2. The volume/side buttons, SIM tray and some parts of the speaker module are made from 80% recycled plastic. Finally, the S Pen is made of 20% ocean-bound plastic.
Common features of the S23 family
The new S23 phones have a lot in common aswelling. All have an excellent AMOLED display with identical performance: AMOLED 2X Infinity OFHD+, Adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hzand 1,750 NITs maximum peak brightness.

Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra edge display
They are all driven by those in power Snapdragon 8 Gen 2which we talked about in detail and benchmarkingso we know it’s an excellent processor and that is one of the most important differences to the S22 series.
the Big phones tend to have better cooling gear (it’s just physics). that’s how it could be small performance differences. However, daily experience should be comparable.
The basic configuration starts with 8GB from R.A.M. and 256GB from storage for the S23, with a 256GB option. the S23+ and S23 Ultra base models have 256GB from storage. The memory of both phones can be enough 512GBand only those S23 Ultra has a 1 TB option.
the 5G and Wireless Internet access Features are the same on all phones, with Support for sub6/mmW 5G and WiFi 6E. needless to say that This is probably the best mobile connectivity available in the world, and we are extremely satisfied with Qualcomm’s communication solutions. No surprises here. Note that only the S23+ and S23 Ultra have UWB.
All handsets also have a large ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screenwhich you can pair with the Unlock built-in facial recognition for maximum comfort.
Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra cameras
the S23 and S23+ to have identical camera systems this function three modules in the back and a selfie camera. The reversing camera system has a Primary (50 MP with OIS, f/1.8)a Ultra wide angle (12 MP, f2.2)and a 3X telephoto module (10MP with OIS, f/2.4). the selfie camera is a classic 12MP with Dual Pixel AF, f/2.2.
the S23 Ultra is a whole different beast. His main camera is one 200 megapixels sensor (maybe the Samsung HP2?) with a f/1.7 Lens, OISand Laser auto focus. the Ultrawide camera is the like the two smaller phonesand as is the 3x zoom.
That said the Ultra has a fourth rear camera, a 10x optical zoom with a 10MP sensor (+OIS) dual-pixel autofocus and a f/4.9 Lens. Having used previous Samsung phones with this type of zoom, we know how useful long zooms are.
We’re excited to see how this new camera setup will score our CAMERA HW benchmark when we have all the hardware details.
Conclusion
the Samsung Galaxy S23 series is updated enough to keep the competition at bay, but it’s a cautious and effective evolution of last year’s models. the Configuration seems solidand Users will enjoy faster speeds and a more refined look.
Perhaps it’s important to remember that despite the high inflation of the global economy, Samsung hasn’t changed the nominal introductory prices (vs. S22). We’re not sure if other phone manufacturers can keep up, and we’ll see how the situation unfolds in 2023. For now, that’s really good news.
