Samsung is rolling out its gaming hub for select smart TVs in 2022, cementing itself as the first smart TV brand to adopt cloud gaming. Gaming Hub provides an all-in-one interface for services like Xbox Cloud Gaming, Google Stadia, and NVIDIA GeForce Now. It even integrates with Twitch!
Gaming Hub is the first home for Microsoft’s smart TV app, Xbox Cloud Gaming. This exclusivity, combined with the all-in-one nature of the hub, is a serious endorsement for cloud gaming. I’m particularly impressed with the Gaming Hub’s user interface, which treats these cloud gaming platforms like traditional streaming services – it even recommends new games to play!

Gaming Hub will be launched on the following TVs:
- 2022 Neo QLED 8K
- 2022 Neo QLED 4K
- 2022 QLEDs
- 2022 Smart Monitor Series
The rise of cloud gaming presents an interesting opportunity for smart TV manufacturers. As you probably recall, the very first smart TVs made DVD players (or even cable boxes) obsolete by allowing access to streaming services. Now brands like Samsung can use cloud gaming to squeeze traditional gaming consoles out of the equation.
It seems this is the beginning of the end of console gaming. But there are still some hurdles to overcome. Cloud gaming requires a stable (and fairly fast) internet connection and consumes a ton of files. For customers with data limits or flaky internet, cloud gaming is currently a letdown.
We’re also not sure how players will react to this tectonic shift. Some people like it own their games, while others (myself included) tend to keep consoles offline.
