Samsung has launched a couple of new laptops: the Notebook 7 13 “, the Notebook 7 15” and the Notebook 7 Force. The first two are your regular business laptops, which look a lot like Apple’s MacBook Pro, while the 7 Force has an all-black design, is a bit more powerful, and is aimed at creative people.
Copying Apple design and correcting certain flaws can be a good tactic (see Huawei’s MateBook X), please read the specifications of this laptop carefully before purchasing one.
Here’s the thing: while they’re pretty much alike, these three laptops have a few key differences that can make them a great or not a great buy depending on your needs and desires.
Both the 13-inch and 15-inch notebook 7 have a solid selection of connections – a USB-C port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, an HDMI port and a microSD slot. They have Intel’s 8th generation Core processors, Intel UHD graphics (the 15-inch model is also available with the Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics chip) and up to 16 GB RAM and up to 512 GB SSD. They have a fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a 55 Wh battery. After all, both have an LCD screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.
And while they generally look like Apple laptops, you’ll notice certain differences except for the black, rubbery buttons; For example, the Notebook 7 15 ” has a full-size keyboard with number keys on the side, which the 15-inch MacBook Pro does not have. However, not everyone will like the off-center trackpad.
To me, this datasheet reads great for the 13-inch device – it’s basically a Windows-based 13-inch MacBook Pro with more ports.
But the 15-inch Notebook 7 doesn’t sound that great on paper. The Full HD resolution isn’t enough for some users (especially many laptops that come with 4K screens these days), the battery could be bigger, and I bet some users will be looking for a newer Intel processor and more Crave ram.
Ideally, the Samsung Notebook 7 Force takes over here, which has a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics chip, up to 24 GB of RAM and an additional LAN port. But this laptop has an even smaller 43 Wh battery and also offers full HD resolution and Intel’s 8th generation core chip – hardly ideal for professionals.
Samsung Notebook 7 Force
The price for the 13-inch model starts at $ 999; the 15-inch version starts at $ 1,099 and the Notebook 7 Force starts at $ 1,499.
The Notebook 7 and Notebook 7 Force will first be launched in Korea and Hong Kong, followed by the US and Brazil “later in 2019.” The Notebook 7 will also be available in China.
