Ugly Sonic not only features his pitcher in the film, but also many other cartoon characters. In a way, the film is like a modern day Who tricked Roger Rabbit? Schaffer tells polygon“It was very important to me to get some third-party animation because if this is going to be some kind of animation celebration, it can’t just be a celebration of Disney animation.”
