Before the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Qualcomm announced a new 5G modem that Snapdragon X75 5G Modem RF Systemintroduces support for 5G enhanced And wifi 7the latest 5G standard and brand for the 3GPP version 18 Default.
By default, the new modem introduces features not previously introduced. They aim to improve energy efficiencyLocation services, accuracy, coverage and top speeds. The list of technical characteristics is very long, but this is essentially what consumers should pay attention to when choosing between 5G and 5G-Advanced devices.
To achieve this, Qualcomm has also increased the modem’s neural processing (AI) power 2.5X, based on the success of previous use cases in newer modems. The embedded 5G AI processor Gen 2 can fine-tune the modem in real-time, and we’ve said before that it’s like having a Qualcomm engineer tweak the live settings. AI can also be used for error correction or other purposes to maximize hardware utilization.

For the average consumer, this means that the Snapdragon X75 is the next-generation high-end modem for upcoming devices, including but not limited to smartphones.
The modem will also find its way into 5G fixed line (home) modems and this technology is fast gaining traction as it is one of the most efficient ways to provide fast internet at home.
Observers predict the new X75 5G modem will power an upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the successor to today’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in phones like the new Galaxy S23 series. Qualcomm said that “Snapdragon X75 is currently sampling, with commercial devices expected to launch in the second half of 2023.”
It’s fair to say that the reliability and speed of wireless networks has improved incredibly over the past decade, and this modem heralds a new stage with the first introduction of 5G Advanced.
