Sony plans to remove a software feature that many PlayStation 5 users may not even know exists. In the fall of 2022, the company will end support for Accolades. As the name suggests, awards allow you to commend players you meet online for sportsmanship and good behavior. Sony rolled out the feature alongside the PS5 but is now planning to remove it as it is not widely used.
“The feature hasn’t been used as much as we expected, so we’re refocusing our efforts,” the company said in a discovered by . “We encourage the community to continue sending each other positive messages.” It’s not surprising that Sony is making the decision to end awards. Lots of online games including over watch, have built-in systems for rewarding inviting and supporting players. It also didn’t help that you had to dig through the PS5’s ribbon UI to find the Commendation-giving menu.
