Before you think this is just a concept like the 2020 sedan, Sony actually started testing the original Vision-S on European roads last year. Basically, the company takes electric vehicles pretty seriously, and this latest concept of SUVs could become a reality soon.
The overall size and shape looks pretty similar to Tesla's Model Y, but things could change if this one ever goes into production.
During the announcement, Sony announced that the new Vision-S 02 SUV will be powered by two electric motors with a combined output of 536 hp. Unfortunately, we have not received any information on battery sizes, charging speeds or an estimated range. However, the original 2020 sedan reportedly went from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 149 mph, using two similar electric motors.
In conclusion, the Chairman, President and CEO of Sony said, "We are exploring a commercial rollout of Sony's electric vehicle and how a creative entertainment company can redefine mobility."
Whether we will one day drive or own a Sony EV is currently unclear, but things are certainly moving in that direction.
