Fans of Splitgate, the portaled sci-fi multiplayer shooter, got some bittersweet news today. Developer 1047 Games has announced that they will finally pull the game out of its long beta and release it in 1.0 next month. It also revealed plans to create another title within the Splitgate universe. But to facilitate work on this next project, Splitgate’s feature development will be discontinued.
1047 explains in a press release that it is developing a new shooter in Unreal Engine 5, set in the world of Splitgate, which means there will also be portals. There are no other details beyond that, but it will be the team’s future full-time project.
Therefore, 1047 is releasing Splitgate from beta on September 15th, but will move away from creating substantial content thereafter. However, the team assures fans that Splitgate will remain online. A new season begins with the launch of the game, which includes a new, free Battle Pass with an infinite number of levels, as well as new characters, skins, and other goodies. Splitgate’s weekly featured playlists and item drops will continue and the team will continue to work on minor fixes and updates.
