OnePlus talked more about the camera of the upcoming OnePlus 10 Pro in the latest press release on the phone from CES 2022. The OnePlus 10 Pro has been officially announced, we know what it looks like and we know the basic spec, but now we’re getting some finer details about the camera on the back of the phone along with some sample images.

Topping the list is the announcement that the phone’s wide-angle camera will have a maximum field of view of 150 degrees, wider than the majority of the competition, which is typically around 120 degrees maximum. It will also have a fisheye camera mode to recreate the unusual ultra wide angle photos captured by special fisheye cameras.
It sounds exciting, and until recently, the 150-degree wide-angle view and fisheye mode would have been a first on smartphones, except Realme beat OnePlus with the Realme GT 2 Pro, which also has a 150-degree screen, wide-angle camera and fisheye mode . Coincidence? No. Realme is part of the BBK Electronics empire along with Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus.
What else? The OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera takes photos in 10-bit color using a feature called the OnePlus Billion Color Solution. It works with tweaks from partner Hasselblad’s Natural Color Calibration software to create a smooth transition between colors for a more natural look. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a 10-bit color camera either, as it was a feature of the Oppo Find X3 Pro. To fully enjoy 10-bit color images, you’ll need to see them on a 10-bit color screen, but we don’t have the final screen specifications for the OnePlus 10 Pro’s screen yet to know if it still has this capability has.
We looked forward to more news about the OnePlus’ collaboration with Hasselblad on the OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera and now we know that it will feature the second generation Hasselblad Pro mode, available for all three cameras on the phone. This introduces a RAW + capture mode that adds computational photography elements to normal RAW video for higher dynamic range and better noise reduction. Unfortunately, Hasselblad doesn’t seem to have worked on the OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera hardware.
Finally, the Pro mode of the camera is also in Move mode. This provides additional control over ISO and shutter speed when recording videos and the ability to record in LOG format without image enhancements. It’s best for those who want more freedom in how the video looks while editing.
The OnePlus 10 Pro will be launched in China on January 11th, with the US, Europe and India launched later in 2022.
