It’s not hard to argue these days that Apple too many manufactures iPad models. The lineup has become convoluted and confusing, and some models offer better value for money than others. Luckily, if you can afford it, there’s a clear recommendation for the vast majority of aspiring tablet owners: the iPad Air.
The iPad Pro’s 120Hz display, Face ID authentication, and other bells and whistles are all nice, but not essential. And at the other end of the lineup, the new 2022 iPad sacrifices a little too much compared to the Air given the price difference.

While many of Apple’s Macs (like the MacBook Pro or the Mac Studio) are specialized products for specific audiences, the 2022 MacBook Air is the Mac that makes the most sense for most people. Its M2 processor is frankly faster than most desktop processors, and a recent redesign has modernized a classic laptop – albeit at the cost of some of its unique identity.

AirPods are more comfortable than any other wireless headphones we’ve used, they offer essential features like spatial audio and transparency mode, and the sound quality is generally not bad for the price either. You can certainly find other headphones that outperform any of Apple’s AirPods models at comparable prices in terms of sound quality or noise cancellation (although you’re unlikely to find anything quite as easy to use wirelessly), but as a complete package, let’s just say AirPods are very popular for good reason. Just don’t worry if you don’t have an Apple device to pair it with.
The best AirPods for most people are the AirPods Pro; They offer a perfect balance between price and performance. Both the first and second generation AirPods Pro are currently on sale. While both offerings offer solid value for money, the second generation is, as expected, an objectively better pair of headphones in all relevant respects. Noise cancellation is also improved, as is spatial audio performance, resulting in a more immersive audio experience. Apple just recently released a new version of its Apple TV 4K streaming box, but it wasn’t a huge upgrade over the previous model unless you’re using a TV that only supports HDR10+ instead of Dolby Vision. However, what’s new on the market is largely the same model from last year steep reduced, making it the best deal on a streaming TV platform. As always, if you don’t already live in the Apple ecosystem, its appeal compares to offerings from Roku and others, but if you have an iPhone or AirPods, the current discount is a bargain.

But to be honest, the entry-level Apple Watch SE (available at 40mm or 44mm) contains most of the features most people want. We’re not knocking on the Series 8 or the Ultra – they have a lot going for them. If you want the heaviest device with the most health features, this is it Apple Watch Series 8 is the way to go and it’s on sale $350 ($50 discount) now. But if you’re just looking for something to help you track your workouts and stay connected, the SE will get the job done for a lot less money.
