If you didn’t quickly pull the trigger when Apple’s new Mac Studio was first announced, you might have to wait quite a while for your computer to arrive at your doorstep. This is because some configurations of the computer appear to have been backordered through June.
Now this will vary from configuration to configuration. For example, the basic entry-level M1 Max of the Mac Studio is expected to ship around mid-April, while the M1 Ultra version is expected to arrive in May, but those configurations are changing and opting for higher-end parts won’t see it arrive until June.
To be fair, we imagine that some users probably waited for the reviews before making their decision. After all, the M1 Ultra version is a pretty hefty investment. At this point it is unclear what may have caused the delays. It’s possible that the computers will prove more popular than Apple anticipated.
Alternatively, and a more likely scenario, this could be due to the ongoing chip shortage, which has been exacerbated by lockdowns in China of late, particularly in Shenzhen, where much electronics is manufactured. Either way, if you’d rather not risk further delays, you might want to place an order now.
