No need to book a trip to Florida to try Disney’s Amazon-based voice assistant. Disney has revealed that “hey, Disney” is coming to Disneyland hotel rooms sometime in 2022. As in Walt Disney World, it will be available along with Alexa in your room’s Echo speaker, handling requests from amenities to stories and jokes.
Guests will also see a little more technology when they visit the park themselves, there MagicBand + Wearables will also reach Disneyland in 2022. You can use the armband to enter the park, make purchases, and otherwise use non-contact, but you will also use a mix of light, haptic feedback, and gesture control to liven up your experiences in specific areas. The interactions will be Disneyland specific, so you won’t have to worry about re-cooked “magical” moments.
Both of these supplements could save time and can be helpful as an ongoing pandemic still makes some people nervous about physical contact. In a way, it’s also about updating the image of the parks themselves. Disney clearly wants to portray the parks as tech-savvy, and combining voice control with wrist-worn devices could help.
