The Nintendo Switch is an excellent handheld gaming console, but it’s not without its problems. If you’re a die-hard gamer who loves the Switch, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced “Joy-Con Drift,” where the joysticks are finicky. Fortunately, one company has a solution.
Due to excessive or prolonged use, some players may notice that the Switch thinks you’re touching the joysticks when you’re not. The physical components wear out over time. As a result, characters or game menus move by themselves, which we all refer to as “drift”.
Luckily, GuliKit, a popular accessory manufacturer, has released their joystick replacement parts that should never have such a problem. They’re called GuliKit Hall Effect Joysticks, which use a contactless “Hall Sensing Mechanism” that won’t wear out and should prevent Joy-Con drift forever.
These small Joy-Con joystick replacement parts are only around $30, 100% compatible without any modifications, and you need to disassemble and plug in a few things. In addition, the company says these replacement devices feature low-power technology and consume about 50% less battery than the originals. And while that doesn’t add a ton to your gaming sessions, every little bit counts.
To make it even easier, you can watch an iFixit video to change them right from the comfort of your own home. This will definitely void your warranty, but it’s worth it for drift-free gameplay. Get a pair on Amazon now using the link below.
