As the year draws to a close, there’s still time for one final round of action in Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris. Trials is the place to be if you’re looking for high-level PvP competition. Trials features unique high-risk, high-reward gameplay that makes it stand out in the Destiny 2 ecosystem of modes. Now that Xur has landed, find out where you’ll be playing Trials of Osiris this weekend and what weapons you can earn.
Card: Eternity
- Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module x 2
- Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism x 3
- Reputation Rank 10: Trial Weapon (changes for each rank reset)
- Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module x 2
- Reputation Rank 16: Trial Weapon (changes for each rank reset)
- Flawless Reward: Unwavering Duty (Adept)
Trials weapons now have the Zeal origin trait. It gives you increased aim assist, reload speed, stability and range of your Trials weapons when you are the last living member of a fireteam or when running alone. You can also switch to the Crucible Origin trait, One Quiet Moment, which greatly increases your weapon’s reload speed when reloading out of combat.
As always, Trials are available from the daily reset on Friday at 9:00am PT / 12:00pm ET until the weekly reset at the same time the following Tuesday. During this time, you can also pay Xur a visit to see what exotics he’s selling. Be sure to visit Saint-14 in the Tower to grab a Trials card, which dictates certain bonuses (e.g. whether you get bonus rewards at certain milestones or if a loss is forgiven).
Trials of Osiris is a weekend PvP mode that runs from the daily Friday reset to the weekly Tuesday reset, giving you four days to participate. Your goal in the Trials is for you and the other two players on your Fireteam to complete a “Flawless” run, where you win seven matches without losing one.
Go flawless and earn a trip to the Lighthouse and receive some special rewards, including the new Adept weapons. These have additional stat bonuses, making them some of the most coveted items you can get your hands on.
However, thanks to a number of changes to Trials this year, getting into the mode is a little easier than before. Trials of Osiris now has matchmaking, so you can jump into matches even if you don’t have a full three-player roster to pick it up. Your Trials Passage — the card you buy from Saint-14 that grants you access to the mode and tracks your wins — now does Not Track your losses – so you can keep playing and earning bonuses even if you lose on a clean run. Bungie has also customized Trials so that you earn rewards based on count Roundinstead of matches you won during your session, and added a reputation system similar to Crucible and Gambit, making it easier to earn some of the Trials of Osiris’ unique loot.
Finally, you’ll earn Trials Engrams for participating in the mode, which you can redeem at Saint-14 the weekend you earn them. You can set these engrams to deliver specific loot pieces, or take your chances with random drops that expand the available loot pool. So even if you’re just entering Trials on your own, there are plenty of ways you can earn awesome new gear.
