Twitter is now offering an annual discount on its Blue subscription service, according to a new report support page discovered by The edge. Web users can now sign up for $84 per year ($7 per month), saving a dollar off the $8 monthly price. Similar discounts exist in other countries that offer Twitter Blue, including the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Previously, Twitter Blue users only had the option of subscribing for $8 a month over the web or $11 a month for iOS (with Apple’s 30 percent fee being passed on to the user). However, iOS users can still sign up online to save the extra $3. In this case, they would save 36 percent with the new annual subscription compared to signing up directly on iOS.
A Twitter Blue subscription comes with a range of benefits, including a blue “verified” tick, higher ranked replies, 60-minute video uploads, and more. Users can also undo and edit tweets, customize app icons, themes, and navigations, bookmark tweets, and more. You need a phone number to sign up, and you want Twitter to verify your account to make sure it’s not a scam or fake — any of that recently failed.
In the first quarter of 2022, before the Musk acquisition closed, Twitter reported $1.2 billion in revenue, with $1.1 billion from advertising and subscriptions (plus other revenue) making up the remainder.
